Hear Ye, Hear Ye!!

Last Saturday after I got off work we decided to take the boys to the Renaissance Fair that had rolled into town the night before. It came complete with kettle corn, costumes, bad accents (hey, they tried), and a jousting tournament! We got there a half an hour before the jousting started. That gave us ample time to walk through the many Boothe's of valuable trinkets that were on display, and could be purchased if your heart so desired. For me, I was in no need of plastic swords or chain-mailed undergarments.

We made our way to the jousting field and up to the top of the bleachers....we did not want to miss out on anything, especially if someone was going to be pierced through the chest with a long wooden pole! After the Knights came on to the field, they were introduced by, none other then, King Arthur himself! First he introduced the Black Knight, Sir Lancelot. He was not in the Kings good graces that day, as he was caught winking at Lady Guenevere. Second, he introduced his right hand man and most "Loyal of Knights", Sir Duane! Yes....that was his name! Not quite the name I would have chosen if I were a knight....my name would have been something like Lady Pierce Lordess of butt kicking , or something that sounded much more lethal! You can't be an expert in a sport like jousting with a name like Duane!

Names aside, the jousting was on! Well it was a little disappointing to me, but apparently these men were World Champions......they rode their horses with ease and confidence and then would ram a large wooden pole somewhere near the vicinity of each others vital areas. Sir Lancelot's horse seemed to not want to do this, but I am sure it was all apart of the show. In the end it was declared that Sir Duane was the winner, and it was at this time that it was announced they would be selling the broken shards of wooden poles as souvenirs for a mere 5$! No thank you.....I don't need to spend 5$ on something that, Jack, will in turn use to hurt himself or others; not to mention the many ways he was probably plotting, at the time, on how to destroy something with it!!

All in all it was a great time had by everyone! Sometimes it is not what you are doing, but who you are with at the time, and I was with my boys (Billy included)! They had an awesome day and talked about it for a few hours after. I was just happy to sit back, listen to them recall the days events, and enjoy my kettle-corn.

Jack was so afraid that Liam would tumble to his death.....so he was holding on to him tightly! We sat in the nosebleed section, so you can understand why he was so frightened for Liam's safety...what an attentive big brother!

Summer has started out great!! Wyatt has had an eventful few days, swimming, staying up late, sleepovers...but I do think he is a little rundown! I found him like this...just snoozing away on the couch in the middle of the day. Gee-whizz...I wish I was allowed to do that!!

Today was the last day of school for the boys and their last day at East Elementary.  Next year they will be attending Panorama Elementary.  This time of year is so bitter-sweet....I love that my children will be home with me all summer, but it also means that they have completed another year in school, thus propelling them further along in their childhood and farther away from being my innocent babies!!  Jack has grown so much in the last 9 months.  He was just a baby when he entered kindergarten and now he can hold his own with the older kids....and he is so bossy!  He is like a little Army Drill Sargent telling his brothers what they are going to play, how they will execute said playing, and what will be said during this play time! It is something we will be working on over the summer.  He did so well this school year.  He is not  a fan of homework at all...it cuts into his mischievous time, however, he was awarded a certificate for "Excellent Coloring"!  For him that made doing all those boring assignments well worth it, that, or he likes that along with the certificate came a coupon for a free kids meal at Pirate Island Pizza....I will let you be the judge of that!! Wyatt also had an amazing school year.  It was jam packed with multiplication, division, and the now coveted chapter books!!  He did very well in math and spelling, in fact, I don't think he ever brought a spelling test home that wasn't a 100%....or he just didn't show us any.  Unfortunately he has entered the rotten stage of smart-alec remarks, and a ho-hum attitude.  I don't know what it is about this age that make children turn into little poor-attitude zombies with very little verbal responses!  If I ask him anything he is sure to respond with a shrug and a "I don't know" or "It's so boring around here..theres nothing to do."  I like to call it Eeoritis.....It just doesn't settle well with me, the child has loads of toys and various Nintendo items including the Wii!!  How much more does he need to entertain himself!  Liam has also done a lot of growing this past year, although not much in the weight department!  He is just a little poof of a guy!  We were at Walmart the other day and he was walking by himself and a gentleman saw him and said " You could fit that boy in your pocket!"  Its funny because if you could see him you would probably think the same thing...only it would have to be a pretty big pocket.  We are all excited about the unforeseen prospects that this summer has yet to reveal to us!  We will probably spend a lot of time at the pool and the many splash pads Saint George has to offer.  Who knows, maybe even a few trips home will be made.   Stay tuned for some follow-ups.

Its great to have big brothers!

So last night Billy said it was time for Liam to have a hair cut!!  I, on the other hand, could have waited a few more months.  Daddy had a valid point though.  Liam's hair is so whispy and was so long in the back that he was being mistaken for a little girl!  Now all who know me, know that I would love to have a little girl, but never would I want one of my boys to be mistaken for one!  I just hate that once you cut your babies hair for the first time....they start to look much older!!  I want to keep him little for as long as possible!

What a year it has been!  This little boy has put us through the ringer!  He has prevailed and made it through with a little persuasion, and a lot of hard work!  We are so proud of him and are ready to conquer the first grade...way to go Jack!!! 

I thought....well everyone else is doing the blog thing, so shall I!!  Its got to be easier and more rewarding than waiting for pictures, and videos to upload on facebook!!
